The "move away" Fade

they would move to a rural area.
or a state or two away.

Broken Promises
About two years after I faded away, I moved interstate and I found it so much easier to be my “new” self.
I basically had to if I wanted to avoid bumping Witnesses all over the capital city I had been living in. If I’d moved to another suburb, anywhere north, west, east or south, I would have been living in an area where I knew some Witnesses.
So I packed up and moved interstate. I moved to another large city where I already knew some ex-JWs so I had a small support base. It’s not always easy moving but I like a bit of adventure. And I’m glad I did it when I did.
I’m now living in the town I grew up with, a much smaller town than the ones I was living in, so I do occasionally see JWs that I remember from long ago. I don’t think they realise I’m not a JW anymore – they probably assume I’m attending the other congregation (there are 2 congs in this town).
So if you’re considering moving to start a new life away from the JWs, I can recommend it, as long as you plan it well.

Broken Promises
Most men that I have seen with Asian brides are usually domineering and controlling, the type that no Western woman would put up with for more than 5 minutes.
I can understand why Philipino women are desperate to marry Western men, because of the dire circumstances they live in. Life is cheap and marrying local men only will continue the cycle of poverty and miserable existence.
Having visited Russia and lived in Central Europe for a year, I can see why Western life seems more inviting than life in post-Soviet Russia or anywhere else. However, many of these women simply want a millionaire’s materialistic lifestyle, which means either they marry someone connected to the Russian mafia, or look for a man from a Western country. Americans have special sex appeal simply because of the status of marrying someone from the Land Of The Free.

Broken Promises
I was born in, 3 rd generation, left when I was 30.
I think the final straw was when I realised the 1914 “prophecy” was all bunk.
If there was no 1914, there was no governing body, no WTS, no JWs. It only confirmed all the suspicions I’d had, on top of everything else – changing doctrines, lack of love in the congs, judgemental “brothers and sisters”, etc etc.

It certainly explains some things about him.
I didn’t know Stephen Fry was gay. I love him on Q.I.

Why do some of you JW's stay in the organization?
by dgp ini have read that up to 67% of all jw's leave the religion when they come of age.
so i wish i could know why the others stay.
in your opinion, what keeps them in?
-
Broken Promises
I stayed in because I believed it, plus with all my immediate family and friends being JWs, I didn’t really have a choice if I wanted to leave with my sanity intact.
Gradually, I began realizing that this wasn’t “the truth” and I faded away……

Look offended and say, “OF COURSE I pray to Jehovah!!”
Act horrified that he could suggest such a thing.

Now That You Can Get Involved In Politics Is It All That Important To You?
by minimus injws cannot get involved with politics.
exjws certainly can and based upon responses from this site, many are quite opinionated about political matters.. are you very involved in politics at this point in your life?
do you really believe that your opinion, your vote means all that in the big scheme of things?

The ramifications of a JW voting in Australia would be the same as any JW in the USA or elsewhere.
Now if a JW wanted to vote, s/he would have to be careful not to be seen at a place of voting, which are normally schools, churches or local town halls.
